01.As an employed teacher of TIT, he should respect sincerely the Contract which both sides (the school administration and the foreign teacher) have signed and comply with it strictly.

02.A foreign teacher is expected to maintain a pleasant relationship with the Chinese teacher who is appointed to assist his teaching and life including keeping constant contact, exchanging ideas, and discussing teaching.

03.Foreign Affair Office is the first and last resort when problems arise.

04.Foreign teachers are required to attend Staff Meeting which is held Monday afternoon from 16:10 (summer time system) or 16:00 (winter time system).

05.At the beginning of each semester, with the help of a Chinese teacher, a foreign teacher should give out a Teaching plan. ( a plan table for each subject has been available, what is left to do is copy it from the department office, after filling it up, render it back to the Foreign Affair Office)

06.At the beginning of each semester, foreign teachers discuss grading system meanwhile absorbing some advisable system from other countries and universities. After the discussion, a grading uniform is issued by which at the end of semester, foreign teachers produce final marks to each student.

07.The school grading system includes:

a. score: 1 – 100

1 – 36: dump failure ( study the same course once again)

36 – 60: failure ( take part in Make-up exam)

60 – 85: pass

85 – 100: excellence

b. A student’s performance during a semester is estimated by marks. It includes 2 parts: presence in each class and homework.

c. A student’s final score for each subject includes 2 parts: One, his or her performance in each class and each piece of homework (accounting for 20%); the other, final test score(80%).

d. Percentage is flexible.

08.Foreign teachers should hold a serious attitude to the class performance of each student. That is to say, a student’s performance should be reflected in his final test result through marks. For example, if a student is absent from a class, a certain amount should be deducted from the total score ( up to 20 marks ); for the same reason, a student’s prompt and excellent answer in the classes and good findings in homework should be seen in the final score by adding some amounts.

09.For some department-level subjects tests ( which mean the final tests are held by the department instead of the school ), foreign teachers have the right to give final scores by the converse. Namely, a student’s performance score accounts for 80% and the final test score, 20%.

10.At any time during the semester teaching, a talk access between foreign teachers and the school administration about the class problems and reactions is open. Foreign Affair Office is the first to listen to complaints, resort to for help and offer both help and resolutions. Meantime, Foreign Affair Office is entitled to collect students reaction and evaluation on foreign teachers’ teaching. If information from the students goes as followings, a talk between a foreign teacher and Foreign Affair Office should be serious:

a. In one class, too many students are absent.

b. Majority of students complain to Paul about a foreign teachers’ teaching style and habits.

c. A foreign teacher speaks with too heavy accent for students to understand.

d. Obviously a foreign teacher are not familiar with the teaching content and material.

e. Sufficient proof shows that a foreign teacher devotes no enough energy to teaching.

f. In the spare time, a foreign teacher spends much time and energy on something unrelated to the school teaching activities, consequently affecting the regular teaching.

11.As a teacher, a foreign teacher should set up a model for students not only in teaching and academic research, but also in life. Foreign Affair Office has no interest in a foreign teacher’s private life, but too much negative influence in personal life spoils trust between both sides.

12.According to the contract, a foreign teacher should give classes between 16 and 20 hours per week. 16-hour is a basic demand for time being. At busy time, 20-hour is the maximum.
